Overview

A near miss during the handling of a heavy component triggered a review of the lifting equipment in use. The end customer required an independent assessment to verify the structural integrity of the lifting tools and confirm compliance with the applicable standards.

Salmev was responsible for the engineering assessment, including documentation review, structural verification and support during proof load testing.

The Challenge

The lifting tools had been in service for several years with limited documentation and no evidence of proof load testing.

The customer needed assurance that the tools were structurally adequate and safe to continue in operation.

The assessment had to be completed with minimal impact on production.
